Nipawin Hawks Captain Maguire Ratzlaff has chosen Liberty University to continue his hockey and academic career.
Ratzlaff, 20, will study Business and Finance at the university while suiting up for the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Div. 1 Flames based in Lynchburg, Va.
The Abbotsford, B.C. product started his Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) with the Melville Millionaires. He was acquired partway through the 2021 – 22 season. Ratzlaff was named the Hawks captain prior to last year.
In his career, he’s suited up in 117 games, 106 of those in Nipawin and has scored 36 goals and added 28 assists.
Ratzlaff spoke about his commitment on Thursday.
On the ice Nipawin travels to Flin Flon on Friday to meet the Bombers. Faceoff is 7:30 p.m., the pregame show on 750 Beach Radio begins at 7:15 p.m.
