Hawks edged in La Ronge

The Hawks gave up a late lead Friday in La Ronge and fell 3-2 to the Ice Wolves.

Tre Fouquette scored his first goal in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) this year in the first period giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead late in the opening frame.

La Ronge tied the game in the second, but Eric Hoiness restored Nipawin’s lead with his ninth goal to lead all rookies on the team.

The Hawks nursed the lead until the final three minutes, but the Ice Wolves beat Corben Schnurr twice late to escape with a 3-2 regulation win extending the Hawks’ losing streak to five games.

Nipawin is back in action Friday, Feb. 2 in Flin Flon.
