Farming for the Hawks 2018

AG VENTURE 2018

In 2018, the Hawks continue to rent 160 acres of land from a long-time Hawks supporter, Ferd Rouault.  The other 55 acres is donated by the Botterill and Palidwar families.

The 2018 Canola crop was seeded on May 16, 2018. A big thank you to Greg Peifer for doing the PreSeed Chemical Burn Off of the field with Round Up and Conquer (Provided by NuFarm. )

After this spraying process, Wade Annand did the seeding of the Nexera 2026 Canola that was provided by Bunge.

The crop is coming nicely and with the current  moisture all we need is the sun to come back out and it will grow like it is on a mission for the Hawks.

In about 10 days Greg will be out spraying for weed control.

There is a new sign out at the Farming Site so if you are out for a drive, go take a look.

Here’s a shout out to everyone who helps with this project. We appreciate you and all your effort.

AG VENTURE – 2017

The Nipawin Jr. A Hawks have completed their 8th year of a very important and successful farming fundraising project.

We continue to rent 160 acres of land from a long-time Hawks supporter, Ferd Rouault.  The other 55 acres is donated by the Botterill and Palidwar families.

This years crop was a huge success and it is because of our fabulous farm supporters and Hawks Volunteers that they accomplish so much.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who seeded, sprayed, sprayed again and swathed the Brandon Wheat during the growing season. We have spoken to this earlier on our Website but want to make special mention in this post of those involved in this harvest.

Thank you to Terry and Zachary Youzwa, Nicholas Kreutzwieser, Wade Annand (Ag Grow Consulting), Denton and Michael Peifer (Ravine Bank Farms), Joe Korieki for ensuring that the crop was harvested. We also thank AK Enns for trucking the grain to P&H Elevators. Last but not least thank you to Gary and Cameron Armstrong for completing the Heavy Harrowing once the crop was off. We cannot run this hockey program without people like yourselves.

No Hawks Harvest is complete without a Smokie lunch for all the volunteers and the Hawks players and staff courtesy of Pineland Coop. Thanks to everyone involved for your generosity.
