The Nipawin Hawks scored on the power-play early Wednesday and never looked back as they cruised to a 6-1 win over Weyburn at the ‘Cage.’
In total Nipawin scored three goals on the man advantage, killed all seven Red Wings power-plays while scoring a pair of shorthanded goals.
Newcomer Liam McInnis led the way scoring his first goal in a Nipawin sweater and added three assists. The 20-year-old has 17 points including six goals in 14 games this year between the Hawks and La Ronge.
Braxton Buckberger scored twice, the 20-year-old Saskatoon product has 11 goals on the SJHL season, Luke Chase and Cole Fox each added their second goals of the year and Braeden Jockims potted his fifth in the third period.
The Hawks outshot Weyburn 38-28.
