The Nipawin Hawks announced Monday that they have acquired the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) playing rights of 2003-Saskatoon product Alex Bernauer.

Bernauer was acquired for a player development fee.

Most recently with the El Paso Rhinos of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), Bernauer had a pair of points of seven games played. Last year he played for the OCN Blizzard in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL), he scored 24 goals and added 33 assists in 49 games in the regular season. He scored four more in six playoff games for the Blizzard as well.

Bernauer is expected to play Tuesday against the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) top-ranked team, the Flin Flon Bombers at the Centennial Arena.

Faceoff is 7 p.m.

Hear from Associate General Manager Dana Dirks regarding the acquisition of Bernauer.
