Hawks add 20-year-old from Spruce Grove

The Nipawin Hawks have landed another top-six forward via trade.

The organization is happy to announce the acquisition of 2003-born forward Artem Hrabovetskyi from the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s (AJHL) Spruce Grove Saints for a player development fee.

Hrabovetskyi suited up in a pair of games in the AJHL. He played five games for the Ukraine World Under-19 program and scored four goals in the World Junior Hockey B Division Championships last winter.

Coming off a 3-2 loss to the Flin Flon Bombers Tuesday and now a break until Sunday afternoon, Associate General Manager Dane Dirks spoke about the addition of Hrabovetskyi and Alex Bernauer ahead of the Hawks’ next game.

Faceoff is set for 3 p.m. on Sunday against the Notre Dame Hounds.

Both Hrabovetskyi and Bernauer have cleared their paperwork and will make their Nipawin debuts.
