Hawks bounce back from Bomber loss, win final road game

The Hawks were swept in the season series by the Flin Flon Bombers when the teams met on Sunday for the final time this season.

It’s been a struggle for Nipawin versus Flin Flon of late, that was the black-and-gold’s 11th straight loss to their northern Manitoba rival dating back to the opening weekend of last season.

Mark Lafleur, Artem Hrabovetskyi, and Evan Forrest all scored in the loss, Lafleur has two goals on the year, Hrabovetskyi’s marker was his 14th and Forrest now has 17 goals this year.

Damon Cunningham made 40 stops in the loss on 45 shots.

Nipawin concluded their road schedule Tuesday with a spirited 5-2 victory over the Melville Millionaires.

Finley Radloff led the way with the game winning goal and the empty netter to seal it late, Chase Visser notched his 11th goal of the campaign, Hrabovetskyi added his 15th of the season, and Braeden Jockims fired home his 12th of the year and Nipawin’s 15th shorthanded goal of the year.

Tyson Endall picked up his eighth win of the season in goal making 32 saves.

The Hawks have one game remaining on Friday at home against the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

With Tuesday’s game being the final radio broadcast of the season on 750 Beach Radio, Head Coach Tad Kozun spoke about the future and the graduating 20-year-olds. (*The audio is divided due to WordPress download limitations)
