Stars shoot past Hawks in Nipawin

The Hawks were edged 4-3 by the Battlefords North Stars Saturday.

Nipawin got two goals from Artem Hrabovetskyi and another from Finley Radloff, but three North Stars goals in the final six minutes stunned the Hawks at the ‘Cage.’

The Hawks led 2-0 in the first frame and 3-1 late into the third before the Battlefords fired 21 shots on Damon Cunningham in the third period finally getting to the star netminder late. The 19-year-old made 34 saves in the loss, many in highlight-reel fashion.

Radloff has seven goals on the year, Hrabovetskyi has eight SJHL goals.

The Hawks were 0/5 on the power-play, they didn’t score on 19 man advantages against the North Stars in four games, the Battlefords took three of four games this season.

Nipawin will travel to Yorkton Tuesday seeking their first victory over the Terriers in three games this year. Faceoff is 7 p.m., the game will be on 750 Beach Radio beginning at 6:45 p.m.
