Hawks doubled in Battlefords; look to rebound at Saturday

The Hawks two-game winning streak ended Friday with a 6-3 loss in the Battlefords against the North Stars.

Looking to win three straight games for the first time this season, the game started well with both Nipawin’s first shots going in, giving the Hawks a 2-0 in the first period, Alex Bernauer got his fourth goal, Maguire Ratzlaff now has seven of the season.

The North Stars tied the game, Nipawin restored their lead in the second courtesy Chase Visser who also has seven goals.

Battlefords bounced right back, tied the game again, and scored three more unanswered goals handing Nipawin their 12th loss of the season.

The Nipawin special teams units struggled, the power-play was ineffective on two chances, the North Stars scored three goals on four chances on the man advantage.

Damon Cunningham was barraged with grade ‘A’ chances all night, he allowed six goals on 25 shots.

The team will close their regular season series Saturday at the ‘Cage’ beginning at 7 p.m.
