Hawks dismantle Klippers; prepare for southern swing

The Hawks returned to the win column Friday and now have two victories in their last three games thanks to a 5-1 drubbing of Kindersley.

Nipawin took four of six games against the Klippers this Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season including the last two contests.

Eric Hoiness scored his first career shorthanded goal to open the scoring at the ‘Cage’ while Chase Visser’s eighth goal was the game winner.

Evan Forrest added his 15th of the year in the win, Maguire Ratzlaff scored the Hawks second shorthanded goal of the night and 12th of the season early in the second, Braeden Jockims caped the scoring with his 10th goal.

Damon Cunningham was brilliant in goal making 32 stops in net for his 14th win of the season.

Nipawin will now prepare for a three games in three days road trip that starts Thursday in Notre Dame.

The road trip that includes stops in Estevan and Weyburn will likely tell the playoff story for the Hawks who are currently in ninth place.
