Buckberger, McInnis named among SJHL weekly winners

A pair of Hawks 20-year-olds were recognized by the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) for their play in our three games last week where Nipawin lost a pair of games and collected a trio of points.

Buckberger was named the Player of the Week after the Saskatoon, Sask. product scored three goals and added a pair of assists. Buckberger now has 12 goals and 23 assists this year, he’s 10th in SJHL scoring.

Newcomer Liam McInnis was named the Defenseman of the Week after the Regina, Sask. native had one goal and four assists. McInnis’ debut for the Hawks on Wednesday he had four points after being acquired from the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

The 20-year-old has 18 points in 17 games this season, he is 13th in defensemen scoring in the SJHL.

The Hawks will travel to Melfort on Friday, Saturday the Mustangs and Hawks meet at the Centennial Arena.
