The Hawks snapped their eight game losing streak Saturday with a 2-1 overtime win Saturday in Kindersley, a day after the Klippers extended Nipawin’s slide Friday.
Taking on Kindersley in back-to-back games at the West Central Events Centre and needing point the Hawks gave up two early third period goals in the first game and fell 4-2. Chase Visser and Evan Forrest scored the Hawks’ goals, the 20-year-old forwards have eight and 14 on the year respectively.
On Saturday, Captain Maguire Ratzlaff scored in the opening period, Bernauer won the game with his ninth goal in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) this year.
Tyson Endall stopped 29 shots in the victory.
The Hawks returned home from the trip one point out of a playoff spot.
Nipawin hosts the Melville Millionaires on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
