Pappas plays hero in Melfort

Landon Pappas is the latest Hawks’ overtime hero after the 18-year-old Airdrie, Alta. product scored his fifth career Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) goal with two minutes to go in the fourth period Friday in Melfort giving Nipawin a 5-4 win.

Finley Radloff, 18, scored his 12th and 13th goals of the season in the third period, the hometown native leads the team in goals. Artem Hrabovetskyi gave the Hawks a late lead with his 10th, Eric Hoiness opened the scoring with his eighth career SJHL goal.

Damon Cunningham was steady picking up win 12 on the season with 30 saves on 33 Melfort shots.

Nipawin had two powerplay goals on five man advantages, Melfort was 0/2.

The teams meet again Saturday at the ‘Cage.’
