The Hawks kept fans locked to the edge of their seats Friday night in a tight matchup against the Melfort Mustangs. Melfort struck first, picking up their lone goal of the night in the opening frame courtesy of Shepard.
Nipawin pushed back and found the equalizer late in the third, as captain #11 Finley Radloff (6) buried one with helpers from ‘A’ #7 Eric Hoiness (12) and #16 Mason Karakochuk (16), sending the game into overtime.
In the extra frame, the Hawks sealed the deal. ‘A’ #7 Eric Hoiness (6) called game, finishing off a setup from #17 Brendan Olson (10) to secure the win.
The victory pushes the Hawks to a four-game win streak, moves them up to third overall in the league, and keeps them in second place in the division.
Nipawin is back on the road tomorrow, heading to La Ronge for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop at the JRMCC as they take on the Ice Wolves.
