The Nipawin Hawks delivered a great three-period effort in La Ronge last night, building a lead early and holding firm despite a late push from the Ice Wolves. The victory marks five straight wins for a Hawks team hitting its stride.

Nipawin opened the scoring in the first period on the power play, with #16 ‘A’ Mason Karakochuk (7) burying the game’s first goal from Captain #11 Finley Radloff (6) and #3 Hudson Gainer (3). The Hawks doubled their lead when #29 Tiernan Ryan (3) scored with helpers by #18 Jack Janzen (8) and #24 Justus Cutler (2), sending Nipawin into the first intermission up 2–0.

The Hawks continued to control the pace through the second period. With under a minute to go in the frame, #10 Will Whitter (10) extended the lead to 3–0, capitalizing on a feed from #11 Captain Finley Radloff (7), who registered his second assist of the night.

La Ronge made a late push in the third, getting goals from Oishi and Morrison, but the Hawks closed out the night and secured the road victory.

Nipawin now turns its focus to a big night at home, Friday, December 5, when the Hawks return to the Cage for a 7:00 PM puck drop against the Flin Flon Bombers and the annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring stuffed animals to throw on the ice after the Hawks’ first goal of the game.

See you there.
