The Nipawin Hawks delivered one of their most complete performances of the season on tonight, earning a convincing 6–3 victory over the Kindersley Klippers in their first meeting of the year.
The opening period set the tone early. #34 Konnor Watson (12) struck first, finishing off a well-executed play assisted by Assistant Captain #16 Mason Karakochuk (12) and #21 Ashton Tait (16). Just minutes later, #18 Jack Janzen (3) added to the momentum, finding the back of the net off helpers from #23 Carter Cole (6) and goaltender #1 Gage Roberts (1).
The second period showcased #34 Konnor Watson (13)(14) at his very best. The Hawks forward completed his second hat trick of the season, scoring back-to-back goals to extend Nipawin’s lead. His first came with support from Karakochuk (13) and Tait (17), and his third of the night was set up by Karakochuk again (14).
Nipawin added two more in the third. Janzen buried his second of the game, his fourth of the season, with assists from #23 Carter Cole (7) and ‘A’ Mason Karakochuk (15). Moments later, Assistant Captain #7 Eric Hoiness capitalized for the Hawks’ sixth goal, with #2 Noah Heinrich (5) drawing the assist.
The Hawks delivered a complete team performance from the opening puck drop to the final horn. The Hawks maintained strong defensive structure, moved the puck efficiently in transition, and received a steady, composed outing from goaltender Gage Roberts. The intensity ramped up in the third period as tempers flared, #39 Noah Derouin and #23 Carter Cole each dropped the gloves, rattling The Cage and keeping the momentum firmly on Nipawin’s side through to the finish.
The Hawks outshot Kindersley 43–25, while the Klippers’ goals came from Flath (1st), Eger (2nd), and Perlinger (3rd).
With the win, Nipawin leaps into third place overall in the SJHL, an impressive rise and a clear testament to the group’s growth compared to last season.
The Hawks are on the road Friday to Melfort, December 02 to La Ronge, and back at The Cage December 05 to take on Flin Flon.
