Hawks Sign First-Round Pick Jeremy Wehrens

The Nipawin Hawks are proud to announce the signing of their first-round selection from the 2024 U16 Draft, forward Jeremy Wehrens.

Wehrens is an 2008-born Saskatoon product who is currently playing with the Saskatoon Blazers U18 AAA program. The skilled forward has had a strong season so far, recording 26 points in 33 games.

Hawks Assistant General Manager Dana Dirks says the organization has been impressed with Wehrens’ development since draft day.

“When we drafted Jeremy in the first round, we obviously saw his raw potential. Over the last two years, he has developed into the player we thought he would become. At the Saskatchewan Hockey Classic over Christmas, Jeremy was named to the All-Star Team and led the tournament in goals with seven, helping the Saskatoon Blazers take the championship. We are very excited to have Jeremy and his family on board with the Hawks next season.”

Wehrens brings a combination of offensive skill, compete level, and finishing ability that fits perfectly with the Hawks’ long-term vision. His continued progression at the U18 AAA level has made him one of the organization’s most promising young prospects.
