Free admission as Hawks host Ice Wolves; Buckberger among weekly winners

The Nipawin Hawks are back on home ice Tuesday for a showdown with the La Ronge Ice Wolves and are offering free admission to everyone.

This is the second of six meetings between the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) clubs, La Ronge won the first game of the year 3-2 in a shootout back on Sept. 23 at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

Nipawin sits seventh in the SJHL standings after eight games, sitting with a record of 4-3-0-1, the Ice Wolves have struggle of late and sit in 11th place. La Ronge has also given up 55 goals this season, second most in the league.

Faceoff is 7 p.m. at the Centennial Arena.

Buckberger named Player of the Week

On Monday the SJHL announced their weekly award winners.

Nipawin forward Braxton Buckberger was named the Player of the Week thanks to the 20-year-old Saskatoon product’s one goal and three assists on the weekend against the Broncos.
