Roberts backstops Hawks to first regulation win; pitches first SJHL shutout

The Hawks have their first regulation win of the season and 2006-born goaltender Gage Roberts has his first career shutout.

The Fort McMurray, Alta. product turned aside all 36 shots he faced Saturday in Humboldt leading Nipawin to a 1-0 win over the Broncos.

Carter Anderson scored the lone goal of the game early in the second period from Eric Hoiness and Mason Karakochuk, Roberts did the rest.

The Hawks took three of a possible four points on the road this weekend and will now prepare to host North Battleford at the ‘Cage’ on Tuesday.

Roberts spoke to Nipawin Hawks’ radio voice Clark Stork after the win.
