The Nipawin Hawks faced the Melville Millionaires for the third time this season on Friday night and once again came out on top, earning a 4–2 victory.
The Hawks opened the first period with an early goal from #39 Noah Derouin, his third of the year, assisted by #23 Carter Cole (3) and #18 Jack Janzen. Later in the frame, captain #11 Finley Radloff (4) added an unassisted shorthanded marker to send Nipawin into intermission up 2–0.
In the third period, #3 Hudson Gainer recorded his first SJHL goal, assisted by #39 Noah Derouin (4) and #5 Jack Mitchell (4). A power-play goal from #10 Will Whitter (9), set up by #21 Ashton Tait (13) and #17 Brendan Olson (5), rounded out the Hawks’ scoring.
Melville’s goals came from Lee and Margolis.
Shots on goal were close throughout the night, with Nipawin registering 27 and Melville 28. The game featured one disallowed goal for the Hawks and two for the Millionaires, adding intensity to an already competitive matchup.
Overall, it was a strong team effort and another solid win for Nipawin.
