Hawks sign Telus Cup top defenseman to LOI

The Nipawin Hawks are ecstatic to announce they have signed Calgary’s Liam O’Neill to a Letter of Intent for next season.

O’Neill, 18, has spent his last two seasons patrolling the blueline for the under-18 AAA Calgary Buffaloes. This season he scored three goals and added 12 assists in 35 regular season games, but O’Neill’s big game presence has the Hawks organization excited.

The 6’1″ blueliner had two goals and six assists in 10 playoff games in the Alberta Elite Hockey League. He also added seven more points including a goal in seven games at the under-18 national championships helping the Buffaloes collect a bronze medal and taking home the top defenseman award at the championship as well.

Hear from Associate General Manager Dana Dirks regarding the signing of O’Neill.
