Hawks sign first round draft pick

The Nipawin Hawks have signed 2023 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) Draft pick Will Whitter to a Letter of Intent for next season.

The Prince Albert product was taken sixth overall by the Hawks last June. The 6’0” forward has spent the last two seasons with his hometown AAA U18 program the Mintos. This past year Whitter scored 17 goals and added 16 assists in 40 games played. The 16-year-old had three more points in the postseason. Whitter also provided 34 goals and 64 points in his final season of U15 hockey.

Whitter is expected to be on the Hawks roster as a 17-year-old in September.
