The Hawks have signed Julian Laqua (Orion, Alta.) to a Letter of Intent for the 2023-24 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season.
The 5’11” defenseman has spent the last two seasons with the SAHA U18 Prep Team based in Medicine Hat, Alta. The 18-year-old scored three goals and added 12 assists in 24 games this past season in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League.
Nipawin first saw Laqua play at the Circle K Classic, and was impressive at the Hawks Spring Camp scoring the overtime winning goal in the top-40 game.
