Hawks pick up second win over Melfort in under week

The Hawks have their second win of the season over their rivals after a 2-1 win in Melfort Friday at the Northern Lights Palace.

After stunning the Mustangs at home on Nov. 11 with a come from behind overtime win, the Hawks took the lead late in the first courtesy Ronan Buckberger, Braeden Jockims added the needed insurance in the second period and Damon Cunningham did the rest with a sparkling 43 save performance in goal.

Buckberger now has seven goals in his SJHL rookie season, Jockims has suited up in a pair of games and has scored in both of them.

Nipawin will have the rest of the weekend off and will prepare for a showdown in Melville Tuesday with the Millionaires.
