Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

Hawks begin three-in-three in Weyburn

The Hawks will embark on their first multi-day road trip of the season when they head south to meet Weyburn, Estevan, and Notre Dame.

Coming off back-to-back wins and points in three points Nipawin will look to keep building against the Red WIngs. Head Coach Tad Kozun, who likes to schedule one southern road swing early in the season said nothing will be easy on the ice this weekend.

“It would be nice to come home with six points, but we can’t look past tonight,” Kozun said. “Weyburn is playing good hockey right now too and we must be ready. We need to take each game and be ready for each one.”

Both the Hawks and Red Wings are tied for fourth place in the SJHL standings early this year. Weyburn is coming off a loss against previuosly winless Notre Dame, so Kozun expects Weyburn to push and get back in the win column.

“We have learned in this league nothing comes easy and you have to make sure to work for it or you’re going to end up on the wrong side of it,” he concluded.

You can hear the game on 750 Beach Radio beginning at 6:45 p.m., faceoff is 7 p.m.
