The Hawks suffered a 9-1 setback Wednesday against the the Saskatchewan junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) hottest club, the Weyburn Red Wings.
Weyburn’s first victory of the SJHL season was on Oct. 5 against the Hawks at Crescent Point Place, the Red Wings have now won five straight and scored 34 goals in the process. Nipawin’s lone goal was scored by captain Finley Radloff, the 19-year-old’s third of the campaign busted the shutout bid of Dazza Mitchell.
Gage Roberts started for Nipawin, the 18-year-old Fort MacMurray, Alta. product allowed six goals on 31 shots, Corben Schnurr allowed three goals on 12 shots.
The Hawks will seek their second win of the year Friday in La Ronge against the ice Wolves.
