Hawks Open 2026 With Overtime Win in La Ronge

The Nipawin Hawks were on the road Saturday night in La Ronge and kicked off the 2026 calendar year with an overtime victory over the Ice Wolves.

The Hawks opened the scoring in the first period when captain #11 Finley Radloff (8) found the back of the net, assisted by #14 Mason Lowther (3) and #10 Will Whitter (11). Later in the frame, the Hawks added another on the power play as #7 Eric Hoiness (9) scored with helpers from #34 Konnor Watson (10) and #4 Braeden Jockims (3).

The Ice Wolves responded with two goals of their own in the opening period, coming from Knox and De Zen, sending the game to the intermission tied.

After a scoreless second and third period, the game headed to overtime. A few minutes into the extra frame, #10 Will Whitter (12) ended it with the game-winning goal, assisted by Radloff (12), sealing the Hawks’ first win of 2026.

Shots on goal favoured Nipawin, 31–16.

The Hawks remain on the road for their next matchup, heading to North Battleford on Tuesday, January 6, where they will take on the Stars.
