The members of the Hawks will participate in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) and Manitoba Junior Hockey League (SJHL) Showcase later this month in Winnipeg.
Mason Karakochuk, Ashton Tait, and Will Whitter will compete for Team Blue, which is made up of players in the 2006 age group or younger. The group will be coached by Yorkton bench boss Emery Olauson and Martin Smith of the Battlefords North Stars. Nipawin Head Coach Tad Kozun said the trio of players have earned their way into the the six game event.
“The group of them have been fantastic and are key pieces of how this group goes forward in the process and to get to where we want to go,” Kozun said. “Mason already a leader at 18, Will has played as good as any rookie in the league as a 2007-born player, plus since Ashton has come to us from Kamloops he has found his game and is a marquee player at 18. The group will represent us immensely.”
The games will be played on Jan. 28 and 29. To see more about the Showcase, go to the SJHL’s website.
