Third period surge leads Hawks to victory

The Hawks clawed back on home ice in the third period Sunday scoring five unanswered goals on route to a 5-2 win over Notre Dame at the ‘Cage.’

Carter Anderson led the way bookending the scoresheet with his team leading 18th and 19th goals of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season in the comeback victory.

The Hounds were up 1-0 and 2-0 after the first and second periods, but Nipawin scratched back in the third. Anderson got the Hawks on the board, Mason Karakochuk tied the game with his 15th goal of the year, Brady Seabrook put Nipawin up with his fourth, Ashton Tait notched a powerplay goal in the attack as well, he has seven on the year.

Gage Roberts was solid making 29 stops in the win, the Hawks were all over the Hounds rifling 42 shots on goal.

The Hawks are off until Friday when they head to Weyburn to begin a three game road trip.

Nipawin is in Estevan Saturday and Notre Dame on Sunday.
