The Hawks had opportunities to take a lead Friday in their final game of the season, but special teams turned out to be the deciding factor in a 6-1 loss to Humboldt.
Nipawin had five powerplay chances including an almost full length two man advantage in the second period they could not capitalize on. The Broncos were 2/4 on the powerplay and added a shorthanded marker late to put a statement on their third win of the season series.
Nipawin will finish the campaign with a record of 17-33-3-3, they will end in 11th place.
The Hawks had two players suit up in their final game, goaltender Nik Trakakis and three-year defenseman Vito Biondo played his 140th regular season game with the black and gold.
Nipawin will hold their awards banquet Saturday.
