Both Conor Ryan and Carter Anderson each scored a pair of goals Friday as the Hawks soared over La Ronge 7-4 on the road.
The Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first courtesy Vito Biondo III, Ashton Tait, and Ryan. The Ice Wolves cut the lead the 3-2 after scoring late in the first and early in the second periods, but the Hawks continued to keep the pressure on thanks to 17-year-old Will Whitter’s eighth of the season.
The game winning goal by Anderson was scored with just 0.4 left on the clock in the second period essentially ending any chance of a set back at the Mel Hegland Uniplex.
Ryan added a powerplay in the third, Anderson sealed Nipawin’s first win over La Ronge with an empty netter, his team leading 11th of the year.
Gage Roberts was stellar in goal making 35 saves.
Ryan spoke after the victory.
