The Hawks had no answer for the Mustangs’ powerplay Saturday night at the Northern Lights Palace giving up three goals in four chances on route to a 5-1 loss.
Nipawin had five powerplays of their own and could not solve Kristian Coombs in the Mustangs’ goal. Conor Ryan scored his fifth goal of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season. Gage Roberts made 31 stops in the loss.
Nipawin will enter the Christmas break with a record of 7-20-2-2.
The Hawks return to action Saturday, Jan. 4 in North Battleford against the North Stars. Nipawin hosts the Battlefords on Jan. 5 at 3 p.m.
