The Nipawin Hawks lit up the scoreboard Tuesday night at The Cage, taking down the La Ronge Ice Wolves in a commanding 7–3 victory.
The night opened as AP #26 Carson Park (1) netted his first of the season, assisted by #34 Konnor Watson (2) and #21 Ashton Tait (7). The Hawks kept the momentum going when #10 Will Whitter (6) found the back of the net, with helpers from #29 Tiernan Ryan (2) and ‘A’ #16 Mason Karakochuk (3).
In the second period, #21 Ashton Tait (4) added to the lead with a goal assisted by #34 Konnor Watson (3) and #4 Izzy Parsa (2). The Hawks weren’t done there, ‘A’ #7 Eric Hoiness (1) buried his first of the season thanks to feeds from ‘A’ #13 Carter Anderson (4) and #12 Jaxen Smyth (2). Watson then added another tally, his eighth of the season (8), assisted by Tait (8) and #28 Sean Shiels (4).
The third period saw the Hawks seal the deal with two more. # ‘A’ 16 Mason Karakochuk (3) scored off assists from #10 Will Whitter (5) and #20 Raydr Wallington (5), and AP #26 Carson Park (2) capped off the night with his second goal, assisted by #2 Noah Heinrich (2) and #21 Ashton Tait (9), who finished the night with an impressive multi-point performance.
Solid goaltending from #31 Colten Scott anchored the team, turning aside key shots and keeping the Ice Wolves from closing the gap. The Ice Wolves’ goals came from Watteyne, Tailfeathers, and Cook.
It was a full-team effort and another strong statement from the Hawks as they continue to build momentum. #31 Colten Scott had a great performance in net.
The Hawks now hit the road Friday, October 24, to face Humboldt, before returning home on Tuesday, October 28, to take on the Yorkton Terriers at The Cage.
