Hawks snap losing streak to Bombers

The Hawks compiled likely their best 60 minutes of the season on route to a 3-0 win over the Flin Flon Bombers Tuesday at the Centennial Arena.

Seeking their first win against Flin Flon since September of 2022, the Hawks took charge in the first, scored twice in the second, added another in the third and got 25 saves from Gage Roberts to earn the win.

The victory snapped a 17 game losing streak to the Bombers, the Hawks win also put an end to Flin Flon’s 26 game point streak dating back to the start of November.

Carter Anderson opened the scoring with his team leading 17th goal of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season, the second period tally was also the 19-year-old Calgary, Alta. product’s fifth game winning goal of the year.

Mason Karakochuk put Nipawin up 2-0 with his 12th of the campaign, Eric Hoiness redirected his ninth of the season in the third.

Gage Roberts made 25 saves in the win, his second career SJHL shut out to go with five wins.

Roberts spoke about the win after the game.

Nipawin is in Melfort Friday to meet the Mustangs, faceoff is 7:30 p.m.
