The Nipawin Hawks were on the road Tuesday night for a divisional matchup against the Flin Flon Bombers at the Whitney Forum, falling 4–2 in a hard-fought contest.
Flin Flon set the tone early, striking three times in the opening frame. Goals from Yakimchuk, Miller and Seitz gave the Bombers a 3–0 advantage after 20 minutes, putting the Hawks in an early hole.
Nipawin responded in the second period with a power-play breakthrough. #4 Braeden Jockims (16) got the Hawks on the board, finishing off a setup from #8 Clayton Nesbitt (5) and #16 ‘A’ Mason Karakochuk (28) to cut the deficit to two.
The Hawks continued to push in the third and capitalized again when #7 ‘A’ Eric Hoiness (18) buried Nipawin’s second goal of the night on the power play, assisted by #20 Raydr Wallington (22) and #16 ‘A’ Mason Karakochuk (29), bringing the Hawks within striking distance at 3–2.
Flin Flon answered late to restore the two-goal cushion, sealing the 4–2 final.
Shots on goal favoured the Bombers 37–29.
The Hawks will look to regroup quickly as they head back on the road Friday for a matchup with the Yorkton Terriers.
