Captain Finley Radloff scored twice, including a powerplay in the third that stood as the game winner in a 7-5 victory over Weyburn Friday.
Radloff opened the scoring for Nipawin in the second period, tying the game at 1-1. The Red Wings retook the lead in the second but Konnor Watson and Mason Karakochuk scored six seconds apart giving the Hawks their first lead.
Weyburn tied the score again 3-3 before the second period concluded.
Eric Hoiness and Van Taylor gave Nipawin a 5-3 lead in the third before Weyburn tied it again on back-to-back powerplay goals.
Radloff quickly answered with his 13th goal of the campaign, Carter Anderson provided insurance with his 20th of the season late securing the Hawks first win over Weyburn this year.
Gage Roberts stopped 41 shots for the win in the Hawks net.
Nipawin is in Estevan on Saturday looking for the season sweep. Faceoff is set for 7 p.m., the pregame show on 750 Beach Radio begins at 6:45 p.m.
Taylor spoke after the game where he scored is first ever shorthanded goal in his recollection.
