It’s opening night of the 2024-25 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season with the Hawks hitting the highway to meet the Bombers in Flin Flon.

Nipawin is looking to return to the postseason after missing by four points last year, but the club will need to do it with the youngest roster of the 12 team league. With just one returning defenseman (Henry Smith) and six returnees overall, the Hawks have seen a lot of turnover and have plenty of fresh faces.

Head Coach and General Manager Tad Kozun said he’s excited about the group and developing this roster into a playoff and eventually a champion caliber lineup.

Friday’s opener against the Bombers will not be broadcasted on the radio due to football programming. Saturday’s home game against the La Ronge will be on FloHockey.

Faceoff in Flin Flon is 6:30 p.m., Saturday’s puck drop for the Hawks home opener is 7 p.m.
