Hawks Light Up The Cage in High-Scoring Win Over Ice Wolves

Last night the Nipawin Hawks welcomed the La Ronge Ice Wolves to The Cage for a makeup game from December 17, and fans were treated to a high-scoring performance with the Hawks coming out on top.

The Hawks wasted no time getting on the board in the first period. Assistant Captain #16 Mason Karakochuk (18) opened the scoring on the power play, assisted by #7 Assistant Captain Eric Hoiness (34) and #20 Rayder Wallington (18). Shortly after, #4 Braeden Jockims (12) added another, with helpers from #24 Justus Cutler (5) and #8 Clayton Nesbitt (4), giving Nipawin an early lead.

In the second period, the Hawks’ top line continued to shine. #7 Assistant Captain Eric Hoiness (16) found the back of the net, assisted by #28 Sean Shiels (13) and #16 Mason Karakochuk (24). The Hawks’ fourth goal came from #28 Sean Shiels (9), with assists from #7 Assistant Captain Eric Hoiness (35) and #16 Assistant Captain Mason Karakochuk (25), showcasing the strong chemistry between the trio.

The fifth goal of the night came shorthanded from #13 Assistant Captain Carter Anderson (6), assisted by #7 Assistant Captain Eri Hoiness (36) and goaltender #1 Gage Roberts (3), extending the Hawks’ lead.

The scoring continued in the third period. #18 Jack Janzen (13) added another for the Hawks with help from #29 Tiernan Ryan (7) and #24 Justus Cutler (6). #16 Mason Karakochuk (19) then tallied his second of the night, assisted by Janzen (18) and Jockims (11).

The Hawks’ eighth and final goal came from #13 Carter Anderson (7), assisted by #11 Captain Finley Radloff (16) and #10 Will Whitter (23), sealing the victory.

The lone goal for La Ronge came from Smyth. Shots on goal heavily favoured Nipawin, 57–30.

With the win, the Hawks remain undefeated against the Ice Wolves this regular season.

The Hawks return to action Friday, February 20 when they host the Estevan Bruins at The Cage. Puck drop is set for 7 PM.
