Hawks host Bruins on parent-billet weekend; Teddy Bear toss game Friday

The Estevan Bruins are in Nipawin for back-to-back games this weekend as the Hawks host their annual parent-billet weekend, Teddy Bear toss and food drive night, plus the Calcutta shootout.

On the ice Nipawin was last in action Tuesday, a 3-1 loss in La Ronge against the Ice Wolves.

Estevan and the Hawks have met once, on Oct. 4 at Affinity Place, Cater Anderson scored the game winner in a 5-4 overtime victory. The Bruins were tamed 5-1 by Melfort on Wednesday to begin their week.

Off the ice, fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the game to donate. When the Hawks score their first goal of the game litter the ice with new or gently used Teddy Bears, plus the Salvation Army will be on hand taking donations as well during the holiday season.

Players will be auctioned off (silently) for Saturday’s shootout after the second game against Estevan.

Faceoff is 7 p.m. for both games.
