Tad Kozun and the Nipawin Hawks are happy to announce the organization has hired Derek Hutton as their new assistant coach.
Hutton, 31, has climbed the coaching ranks in and around his hometown of Sherwood Park, Alta., but is now looking at taking his “hobby” to a full time professional level.
Hutton played in the Sherwood Park growing up before health concerns forced him off the ice and behind the bench.
He will take over for Levi Stuart who joined the Rocky Mountain House Wranglers of the KIJHL in British Columbia.
Hutton spoke with the organization regarding the hiring.
