Hawks Edge Mustangs 4–3 in Season Opener

The Nipawin Hawks started the season strong with a 4–3 victory over the Melfort Mustangs on Friday night.

1st Period: Captain Finley Radloff opened the scoring with an unassisted goal.

2nd Period: Konnor Watson buried a power play goal, assisted by Mason Karakochuk and Van Taylor.

3rd Period: Watson struck again on the power play, set up by Karakochuk. Moments later, Mason Lowther added another power play goal with help from Jack Drake.

Assistant Coach Derek Hutton praised the team’s resilience:

“Proud of the way the boys stuck with it and didn’t quit. After a slow second period the boys responded the right way. Having a short bench everyone needed to step up and contribute. We will have a good week of practice and be ready to go next Friday vs Flin Flon.”

The Hawks will look to build on this effort when they host the Flin Flon Bombers next Friday the 26 at The Cage, 7 PM puck drop.
