The Nipawin Hawks picked up a big win at the Cage on Wednesday night as they welcomed the Weyburn Red Wings to town.
The Hawks opened the scoring in the first period when Assistant Captain #7 Eric Hoiness (14) netted his 14th goal of the season. He was assisted by #28 Sean Shiels (7) and Assistant Captain #16 Mason Karakochuk (20) to give Nipawin the early lead.
In the second period, the same line continued to shine. Assistant Captain #16 Mason Karakochuk (12) scored his 12th goal of the season on the power play, with assists going to Assistant Captain #7 Eric Hoiness (27) and #28 Sean Shiels. The trio delivered a standout performance and provided all the offence on the night for the Hawks.
Shots on goal favoured the Red Wings 39–24, but Hawks goaltender #1 Gage Roberts was outstanding between the pipes, turning aside all 39 shots he faced to secure the shutout victory.
The Hawks return to action Friday night when they host the La Ronge Ice Wolves at the Cage.
