Hawks earn point in overtime loss to La Ronge

The Hawks got two goals from rookie sensation Will Whitter and Konnor Watson notched his first career Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) goal, but it wasn’t enough as Nipawin was edged 4-3 by La Ronge on Tuesday at the ‘Cage.’

After falling down 1-0 early and 2-0 later in the first, the Hawks’ 17-year-old from Prince Albert went to work snapping his fourth and fifth goals of the year past Graham Brown to event the score at 2-2.

Watson redirected a Logan Denton point shot in the third giving the home team the lead, but it only lasted 35 seconds as La Ronge tied the game at 3-3 forcing overtime where the Ice Wolves picked up the win.

Tyson Endall made 30 stops in the loss.

Next up is a trip to Yorkton on Friday for a matchup with the Terriers. The game will be on Beach Radio beginning at 6:45 p.m.

Assistant Coach Derek Hutton spoke about the loss after the game.
