The Hawks picked up their second straight win over Flin Flon on Tuesday thanks to Will Whitter’s second overtime goal of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season as Nipawin won 5-4.
The Hawks got goals from Van Taylor (5) and Mason Karakochuk (21) in the first period, another from Konnor Watson (10) in the second period and Ashton Tait scored his 11th in the third before Flin Flon rebounded with three straight to tie the game at 4-4 forcing overtime for the first time between the two clubs.
Whitter scored his 12th goal of the season and second straight overtime goal (had the winner versus La Ronge earlier this season).
Gage Roberts made 33 saves for his 11th victory of the year.
Karakochuk added an assist and a fighting major for the ‘Gordie Howe Hat Trick.’ He spoke after the win.
