Saturday at the Cage, the Hawks hosted the Warman Wolverines and delivered a decisive, full-team performance from start to finish.
The first period opened with a power-play goal from ‘A’ #16 Mason Karakochuk (6), assisted by #3 Hudson Gainer (1). The Hawks extended their lead with #2 Heinrich’s first goal of the season, set up by #21 Ashton Tait (15) and #20 Raydr Wallington (7). The period closed with a third Hawks marker from ‘A’ #7 Eric Hoiness (3), assisted by #6 Brady Seabrook (5) and #17 Brendan Olson (6).
In the second, #39 Noah Derouin (4) added to the lead with assists from #17 Olson (7) and #23 Carter Cole (5). ‘A’ #7 Hoiness (4) scored his second of the night with help from #17 Brendan Olson (7) and ‘A’ #13 Carter Anderson (8) to bring the score to 5-0. Captain #11 Finley Radloff (5) followed up with a goal off passes from #12 Jaxen Smyth (5) and #5 Jack Mitchell (4). Warman’s lone goal of the night came in the second period from Cam Sarna.
The Hawks continued to control the game in the third period. #39 Derouin (5) struck again, assisted by #18 Jack Janzen (6) and #3 Gainer (2). ‘A’ #13 Anderson (4) added another, with helpers from ‘A’ #7 Hoiness (10) and #17 Olson (8). The scoring continued with #8 Clayton Nesbitt (3), assisted by #18 Janzen (7) and #39 Derouin (4). The Hawks’ tenth and final goal came from #12 Smyth (2), with assists from #17 Olson (9) and ‘A’ #7 Hoiness (11).
Shots on goal were 35 for Warman and 26 for Nipawin.
The Hawks are back at the Cage next game as they take on the Klippers.
