Even though it has been a slow start to spring, the Nipawin Hawks Farming Venture has been busy preparing for the 2026 growing season by securing fertilizer and seed for the year ahead.
This spring has brought its share of challenges for producers across the region. An exceptional amount of snowfall followed by a quick late melt has delayed field work and seeding operations for many farmers in our community. Despite the difficult start, preparations continue as growers wait for fields to dry and conditions to improve.
The Nipawin Hawks were pleased to welcome Gunner Kinniburgh from Corteva, along with summer student Torey Carlson, who delivered Nexera® Optimum GLY Canola seed for the Hawks’ 160-acre field project.
In addition to supplying the canola seed, Corteva also donated a pre-seed herbicide to help get the crop off to a strong start this season. Support like this plays an important role in helping the Hawks continue fundraising initiatives that benefit the organization and its players.
The Nipawin Hawks would like to thank Corteva for their continued support of the organization and the local agricultural community.
Now, all that is left is for the weather to cooperate so the seed can get into the ground and the 2026 crop season can officially begin.
