Cardiac kids comeback again; tame Bruins in weekend sweep

Eric Hoiness had back-to-back game winners against the Estevan Bruins this weekend, highlighted by Saturday’s comeback overtime victory.

Down to nine forwards and without veteran Henry Smith on the blueline, the Hawks scored twice in the third to force period four before Hoiness ended the game on a Nipawin powerrplay.

Carter Anderson, 19, jammed his eighth goal of the year in the second period, Ashton Tait added his fourth and Konnor Watson forced overtime with his fifth of the season.

Hoiness now has four goals as well.

Nathan Claydon was stellar in goal making 32 stops.

Hoiness spoke after the game saying the victory was “the best team win he’s been a part of.”

The Hawks look for their fourth straight home ice win Tuesday against Yorkton.
