The Nipawin Hawks battled hard on the road Friday night but came up just short, falling 3–2 to the Humboldt Broncos.
The Hawks opened the scoring in the first period when #12 Jaxen Smyth (1) found the back of the net, assisted by Assistant Captain #7 Eric Hoiness (6). Nipawin added another in the second period as #34 Konnor Watson (9) buried one with helpers from #10 Will Whitter (6) and #2 Noah Heinrich (3).
The Broncos answered back with goals from Strizzy, Semchysen, and Penrod, securing the 3–2 final. Despite a strong push in the third, the Hawks couldn’t find the equalizer.
It just wasn’t the Hawks’ night, but they’ll look to bounce back quickly. The team returns to home ice Tuesday at the Cage to take on the Yorkton Terriers.
