The Hawks have their first win of the season thanks to a Carter Anderson overtime goal Friday in Estevan.
Anderson, 19, scored twice in the 5-4 win and now has three goals through six games early this Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) season. The Calgary product gave Nipawin a 2-1 lead after the first, Mark Lafleur opened the scoring with his first of the year.
Finley Radloff gave the Hawks a 3-1 lead on a powerplay in the second, Will Whitter also scored his second goal of the campaign on a subsequent powerplay. Radloff’s second was on a two man advantage.
Nipawin gave up the three goal lead in the third period, but Anderson took an Eric Hoiness pass a minute into the fourth period securing the extra point and the Hawks’ first win this year.
Tyson Endall made 41 stops in the win.
